There are some mornings I simply don’t feel like reading my Bible. There are a hundred reasons why I might feel this way, but whatever the problem is, the solution is in the Word. So what do you do when you don’t have the desire to open your Bible but you’re in need of its truth? It turns out, there’s an app for that!
Pray As You Go is one of my favorite apps to listen to in the morning.
The creators follow the liturgical calendar and focus on a different portion of scripture each day. They combine music, scripture reading, and thought-provoking questions to create a framework for your prayer time and draw you deeper into the text.
This morning they played an absolutely gorgeous piece sung by the monks of the Pluscarden Abbey. It was relaxing, inviting and something I do not normally get to listen to. Coupled with the soft voice of the moderator and carefully crafted questions, it was the perfect way to focus my sleepy mind and prepare my heart to hear from God.
Some days I listen before I read my Bible, other days I just listen and pray.
I love having this app as an option for my morning times with the Lord. He has never failed to meet me in it and speak to me through it. You can download the app for IOS here or for Android, here! I hope you find it just as encouraging as I have!
If you give it a try, let me know what you think in the comment section below!!
