Emmanuel, “God with us”. This name of Christ assures us, reminds us, he is here. We are not alone.
In this Advent season, we reflect on a time when mankind awaited their Savior. We remember our lives before Christ before our souls felt their worth.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel has come to thee, O Israel!
This is the joy of the season. We were not left abandoned without a Savior. We are not alone! We have been invited in, once orphans, now family- brothers and sisters in Christ! This is God’s act of divine hospitality towards us.
The world is still nuts, though. It is fallen, broken, and hurting. Salvation does not shield us from the pain of this life. And so we continue to cry out, “Oh come, Emmanuel!”
He has come, he is ‘God with us’, and he will come again. Rejoice!
